Magnet on my shoulder

Many people have asked me over the past year about the "magnet" I wear on my shoulder. I always tell them that it is a posture reminder. I wear it because I frequently have poor posture, and I have found it is an easy way to remind me to sit up straighter!

It is called a Lumo Lift. My hubby got a great deal on two of them several years ago, and we both wore one until I lost mine. He gave his to me, since he feels I need it more. It is a simple little square magnet, attached to a little piece that will vibrate if I slouch. I set it each morning that I put it on, and it buzzes after I set it. I have it set so that it will vibrate every two minutes. It is attached to an app on my phone, and I can adjust it's settings there. It is attached to the app via bluetooth. It not only measures my posture but also numbers my steps each day. I try to get to 5,000 steps a day, since that is a realistic goal for me. Most days I do not conquer that, I know I need to exercise more than I do.  It is nice to have the Lumo Lift as a step counter for me, since I do not always have pockets or carry my phone everywhere in my house. (I can use the Health app on my iPhone to record steps also.)

You can find out more about the Lumo Lift here.  It comes with a little charger that you can plug into your computer or a wall brick. I usually charge mine every night while I sleep, but it doesn't need to be charged daily. I've gone 2-3 days without charging before and it will still work great. I have bought some different magnets for it, mostly black/ metallic ones, but hope to buy colored magnets so that it is not as easily seen.

I enjoy the Lumo Lift posture coach as it has helped me maintain good posture each day!
Sometimes it is hard to see on my shirt, sometimes it is easy to see...
And sometimes my necklaces get caught on it, it really is a magnet!

There are not many verses about posture in the Bible, but there are some about standing up... ;-D

Joshua 7:10
The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?

Luke 21:28
When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Acts 26:16
‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.

"Do Life Big"

It seems every day this past week, I've heard of an accident, death or shooting. There were local deaths and deaths across the world in France and elsewhere in the world. It can be disheartening to hear about over and over and over. As a Christian, I wonder what God is doing, what is He trying to show us. It seems that the world has gotten farther and farther away from God even just during my lifetime (40 + years). While I don't understand it all, I know God is in control. I believe with all my heart that there is something He is doing in all of it. All of the chaos, the loss of life, the head-shaking stories of accidents. He is working.

I've had this song rolling around in my head all week, so I will share it with you now. It's message struck me last week. I want to love, serve and give to God every chance I get, I want to "do live big." I hope many others that I know will desire to do the same. Maybe this will impact a change in your life or heart, I really hope so. I have considered getting off of Facebook and even to stop blogging this past week. The world doesn't need more media. More time to stare at a screen. I need to look into my children's eyes and enjoy the time I have with them NOW. Time really is fleeting. I feel it so with my teenage daughter. She is 17, and I really don't know how that happened. I know I've lived each day of her life with her, but it is kind of a blur at the same time. There are other songs I may share about that message at a later time. I hope my rambling is making sense. I have so much on my heart today. I am happy in my corner of the world, but there is also sadness mixed in too. Part of me wants to shield my family from the world, but I know God wants us as Christians to be a light in the lost world for Him. I hope you will join me in doing life BIG!

"Do Life Big"

I gotta slow down,
Stop for a second,
Take a look around,

And I gotta take time,
To hear that little voice inside,

Saying I came to give you life,
So spread your wings and fly,
I've got a secret to share,
You are enough to change the atmosphere,

So go and do life big, big
I wanna do life big, big

Break out them blue skies,
I can feel my heart beating inside,
Yeah, it's like a new day,
Woke up to hear You say,

I came to give you life,
So spread your wings and fly,
Now go and show no fear,
You are enough to change the atmosphere,

So go and do life big, big
I wanna do life big, big

Oh, I wanna love, wanna give every day I live,
I wanna do life big,
I wanna love, serve, and give every chance I get,
I wanna do life big,
Oh, I wanna love, wanna give every day I live,
I wanna do life big,
I wanna love, serve, and give every chance I get,
Oh I wanna do life
I wanna do life big, big

I wanna do life big, big
I wanna do life big, big

I wanna love like You,
I wanna give like You,
Oh, I wanna do life big,
I wanna serve like You,
Lay down my life like You,
I wanna do life big...

I wanna do life...
I wanna do life...
I wanna do life big.
I wanna do life...
I wanna do life...
I wanna do life big.

Now GO and show no fear, YOU are enough to CHANGE the atmosphere! Let us all be the hands and feet of Jesus in the lost world!

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

John 13:1
[ Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet ] It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

2 Corinthians 13:14
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Galatians 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Getting glasses...

Several months ago, I got new glasses that I had to wear ALL of the time. I had originally gotten glasses when I was 21, but I mostly wore them to drive and see far away. Last year, I started noticing closer things getting blurry, and I was not happy about it. After a few months of trying to read my Bible and squinting, I got my eyes checked. Sure enough, I needed a new prescription. I got glasses online from zennioptical.com, and I have really liked the frames that I got.

Here are a few things I have learned since getting glasses full time...

1. What it feels like to open the hot dishwasher and not be able to see for a moment, because my glasses got steamed up.

2. How annoying it is to have fingerprints (or nose prints) on them, and that a good glasses cleaning cloth is needed in my pocket or purse at all times.

3. The times where I need to change from sunglasses to glasses and back, and forgetting my glasses in the car several times...sigh.

4. The feeling of glasses sliding down my nose, ALL day long. My nose is greasy, and yes they are adjusted well, they just slide.

5. How my glasses fog up when going outside in the cold.

6.  My eye makeup does not get seen very easily anymore, even my hubby can hardly see my eye shadow. Good thing I don't wear it too often!

7. When I take my glasses off, my kids tell me I "look weird."

8. Glasses in the rain are just not fun. Spots, spots, spots...

9. Taking flash photos with them on always leaves a little reflective glint.

10. I still forget to put them on in the morning, and occasionally forget to take them off when I need to!

11. Crying with glasses is an experience... off, on, off, on, okay, I'll just leave them off!

I know I could get contacts, but I really don't like putting my fingers in my eyes. So for now, I'm rocking my glasses!

My Dad tried them on too! haha

Genesis 33:10
“No, please!” said Jacob. “If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably.

Mark 8:23
He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”

John 12:40
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.”

John 2:1-11   Jesus Changes Water Into Wine

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
