Wordless Wednesday: Bethy's bed?

This past week, during our homeschool time one day, our 4-year-old Bethany set up her own little "bed". She made it with our yoga mat folded up, used her busy bee pillow while wearing her sister's winter headband. What a cutie! It made us chuckle and we took some pics-- enjoy!

 Genesis 28:11
When he (Jacob) reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.

Psalm 4:8
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Luke 9:58
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

"Kid Snippets"

On Facebook last month, a friend of ours posted a video, and she said, "Sometimes this is what teaching is like..." and we really enjoyed the video. Kid Snippets are a video series on YouTube when kids talk and adults act. I feel like that teacher when I teach my own kids too! "Do you get it now?" "Yes...?"

We watched several videos one evening and just laughed and laughed at them. We showed our kids more of them and they think they are hilarious! Their favorite video is when the older brother watches the younger ones, it's called "Babysitting" and its one of their sister series videos called "Kid History".  It's so funny because the mom tells them three things to do/ not do and all of them happen... ha! The kids like the neighbor Robby too, and his songs and phrases. I like the part when the snackers are talking and one says, "Guess what?..." Ha! This longer video has become one that is quoted in our home often!

Another one of our favorite Kid History videos is the family party episode. The parents have a party and the kids are supposed to be upstairs playing video games and sleeping, but they sneak downstairs and get some snacks... ha ha. "Freeze!" "Why did you just get saltine crackers?" "I didn't, I also got Muppets toothpaste!" "It's not regular toothpaste, you pumpkin, it's Muppets toothpaste!" "Those guys are crazy, these are delicious!"

I hope you enjoy a laugh or at least a smile for the day! We like these videos because they are kid-friendly, appropriate entertainment for the whole family, and because the adults lip-sync so well what the kids narrate. The other videos are funny too, but these three are our favorites.

Job 29:24
When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it; the light of my face was precious to them.

Psalm 33:3
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

Psalm 86:4
Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.

Psalm 97:11
Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

Wordless Wednesday: Bethany!

(Well, almost wordless!)

My Bethany, age 3 3/4 has been playing with her stuffed dog a lot lately. I've been wanting to snag a photo of her with her barking dog for a few weeks. Then she found this Legoland hat and has been wearing it every day. I finally got some pictures of her to share with you. In the last picture, she came in with our cat costume on the dog's head and it made me laugh. I hope you enjoy a chuckle too.

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
(Psalms 127:3-5 ESV)

He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD!
(Psalms 113:9 Holy Bible ESV)

Proverbs 17:22

A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Wordless Wednesday:YMCA?

(Well, not quite wordless...)

My kids crack me up sometimes. Here are two examples...

One day recently, we were playing with our large foam blocks. The kids made mats, forts, walls, etc., We hadn't played with them for a while and found this to be a wonderful rainy day activity. My son showed me what he made:

"Mom! Like the song..." :-D

Then one day this past week, my youngest daughter wanted to play a game. She likes playing Go Fish and Old Maid, so that's what I figured she would grab to play. But she grabbed the word game Bananagrams. We poured out the letters, found the letters in her name and the names of each member of our family. Then she found a Y and said, "Y? Like in YMCA?" :-D I thought it was pretty cute! I guess we listen to YMCA more than I think we do... we don't even own the song!

Deuteronomy 6:6-8

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

Psalm 103:17
But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—

John 1:12-13

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God  13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Creative Names...

My older daughter Rebekah was quite creative when she was 3 or 4 and naming her bears and dolls. We had a "Baby Susie" for years, but one day she got a new bear from her favorite babysitter. I asked her what she was going to name it, and without hesitation, she responded, "Jeff." And Jeff it was!

My 2nd daughter Mallory inherited a lot of Rebekah's already named stuffed animals and bears. She received a doll for Christmas 2010 and it was already named Olivia. Last week she was showing me a little stiffed dog she had gotten this past Christmas. "What's it's name?" I asked her. "Olivia." I responded, "You already have an Olivia, you should name it something else..." "Nope, I like Olivia." Then a little while later, she informed me that she had decided to call that doggie, "Cupcake." Oh, cute!

My youngest, Bethany is not so creative when it comes to naming dolls and animals. Rebekah gave the two younger girls several stuffed animals last week, and they have been non-creatively naming them. The Beanie Baby lamb = Lambie. The Beanie Baby pig= "Piggie". The different sized Elmos are "Big Elmo" and "Little Elmo." She has a purple bear that she calls "Beary Bear." :-D

She had a green stuffed smaller bear last week. She said, "Mom, what should I name it?" "Hmm, I like Shamrock..." I told her. She didn't say anything to me about it, but looked directly at her sister and said, "Shall we call it Mallory or Bethany?"  Lol- guess she didn't like my name choice! Later in the day, she decided to call it "Cute Bear." Not very descriptive, but that is what stuck...

She has several dogs that she likes and carries around during the day. They are all called... "Doggie!" One of them she was recently nursing! Here is it's picture...

Yep, she was nursing the yellow xylophone dog! It still makes me giggle. Maybe she will become more creative before she becomes a mother! :-D

My children are precious to me and to God...

"Jesus took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 'Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.'"  Mark 9:36-38  (NIV)

Here's an extra picture for the weekend. This is the kind of silly stuff I get on my camera when my kids find it!

More Silly Kids!

Here are some more pictures of my silly kids. This one I had to look for...
It is one of my favorites because I walked in the kitchen, and just walked right back out to get the camera (and decide what I was going to do to him!) Caleb is known to be quite the snitcher and hide candy wrappers under his bed, eat cookies and think nobody will notice, etc., He gets in lots of trouble for his sugar addiction! What a STINKER!

Caleb is also known to play with our camera a lot. He'll take it and hide in the closet and watch videos (and wear the battery down!) Here is a silly one that he took of Rebekah a while ago...

On the way home from Durango a few years ago, Joshua took this photo, when all three kids are sleeping. You can't see Mallory, but I think Rebekah's neck looks so painful. How can she sleep like that?

And one last one of little Mallory enjoying an ice cream bar, when Bethany was little... So glad we took her shirt off!

Silly Kids!

There are some moments as a Mom when you just have to laugh! I've been thinking about some of these moments lately. My 3-year-old, Mallory has been particularly funny lately. One day last week, she'd been wearing a new jumper. She couldn't get it back on by herself after going on the potty. She was calling me, and I took a minute to come. When I got there, she had the TP wrapped around herself, like this:

I just had to laugh and grab the camera! Silly girl!

Then another day, Caleb had gone into Mallory's room when she was about 18 months old. I went in there after a minute to see what he was doing. I went right back out and grabbed the camera. He'd just gotten this Bible-man costume for his birthday, and was wearing it a lot. It gave me a chuckle, and still does now!

Another Sunday close to Christmas, we were getting ready for church. I was getting Mallory ready in her car seat, and came around the corner to see that Caleb really needed help with his pants! It was too cute, so I grabbed the camera. Poor skinny little dude!

Another day, Caleb was getting ready for church, dressed in his nice suit from our friend. He added his own stylish touch to the outfit. While it was photo-worthy, it was not going into church! He frequently wears helmets when we drive, and it makes me feel like I am a bad driver! :-D

Another day, while I was working with Rebekah during homeschool, he had taken a marker unbeknownst to me, and did this nice artwork on his face...
It looks like lipstick, doesn't it? I know I just don't have this shade though! Maybe he watches me more than I know!

How can you not laugh at that?

A final Caleb one... we were having smoothies, which is our normal Sunday night dinner (with popcorn), for most of the year. I guess one time I forgot to get a lid on his cup...

Glad that he had a bib on though!

That's all for today's version of silly kid pictures. I'll add more as I gather and take them! Hope you enjoyed a smile!

Funny kids stories...

Here is a post about cute & funny things my kids have been saying lately...

Mallory tells Bethany she is "adorable", but when she says it, it sounds like she says "terrible". EX: "Aw, Beff, you're so a-derr-ble..."

Last week, we went to Wendy's to get some free Frostys. Mallory was calling them, "Snowmen"-- you know, as in "Frosty the Snowman"...

Caleb and Mallory run down the hall to their bedrooms, and Mallory says, "Last one there is a Rockin' egg!"
We were going to MOPS last week and Mallory was calling it NAPS. We thought it was funny that we'd all be going to church to sleep! Does she think it will be that boring? :-D

We made Valentines last week and Mallory has been carrying them around a lot. She couldn't wait to give hers to Ash-a-wee! (her cousin Ashley)

That's all I can think of for today. Will post more another day... Hope we made you smile at least once!
