I don't usually make "resolutions" at New Year's, they are too easily broken. But I do think about what I'd like to change in myself, and what I am striving to do, with God's help daily. I was thinking today (and all weekend) about what goals I have, so here is my SHORT list. If I keep it short, it is easy to accomplish, right? Hmm... not so sure about that! And if I post it here for you all to see, you can help me be accountable to it...
In no particular order...
1. Get more exercise. I am hoping our new Wii will help with this...
2. Be more patient and less angry with my kids.
3. Try not to discipline out of anger.
4. Make more exciting dinners. I am in a serious rut!
5. Take more date nights with my hubby.
6. Be on the computer and iPod less, and tune into LIFE more!
As I said, this is not a conclusive list. Just some things to work on, really. There is always lots I can work on... so this is just a start. I heard it said that goals should be achievable and attainable, and I think I can attain these goals, even if they are somewhat vague!
A few verses to inspire us..
"He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new..." Revelation 21:5
"And He said to me, I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost." Revelation 21:6
"Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, behold, the new has come..." 2 Corinthians 5:17
And a song by one of my favorite artists, Steven Curtis Chapman, is called "All Things New."
You can listen to it here:

Here are the lyrics to this song:
All Things New
You spoke and made the sunrise, to light up the very first day
You breathed across the water, and started the very first wave
It was You
You introduced Your glory, to every living creature on earth
And they started singing, the first song to ever be heard
They sang for You
You make all things new
You make all things new
Then the world was broken, fallen and battered and scarred
You took the hopeless, the life, wasted, ruined and marred
And made it new
You make all things new
You make all things new
You redeem and You transform
You renew and You restore
You make all things new
You make all things new
And forever we will watch and worship You
You turn winter into spring
You take every living thing
And You breathe Your breath of life into it over and over again
You made the sunrise, day after day after day
But there's a morning coming, when old things will all pass away
And everyone will see
You make all things new
You make all things new
Come redeem and come transform
Come renew and come restore
You make all things new
You make all things new
And forever we will watch and worship You
Now and forever You are making all things new
You're making all things new
Hallelujah...
I love the ideas of how God can renew and transform, like He makes winter into spring. And how God breathes life into us over and over again. I cling to these promises today and all year!
Like, like, like :) Here's to a new year to be made new! love you....
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot one... to read my Bible more, instead of just a devotional. Knowing God's word is SO important, and I need more of HIM in my life!
