Music Monday: "You Drive..."

I like to drive, really I do. But I don't mind riding in the car. Maybe it's because of my stressful beginning in driving. My dad taught me the basics of driving, and was somewhat intense. I also took driver's education class, and I drove on the road for many days, longer than two or three other partners. I didn't take and pass my driver's test until I was almost 17. My dad always preferred to drive, and would drive most of the time on long trips. My husband prefers to drive much like my dad does. That's part of the reason that I like this song...

Another reason that I enjoy listening to this song is that it is a great metaphor for our relationship as children of the Living God. We want and need HIM to be in control of our daily lives, and allow God to "drive"...

You Drive I'll Ride by FFH

Songwriters: DEIBLER, JEROMY / SMITH, BRIAN

I've been in control too long
I can't be trusted
I have driven into walls
Ok, I'm busted
My record is anything but clean
I've nothing left, but
Repentance anda guilty plea
I've learned my lesson.
No one ever handed me the keys to my own story
I just took them for myself, ok, I'm sorry
You take the wheel
I will work the radio
You take the wheel
We'll go where You want to go
You take the wheel
Take it fast, take it slow
Whatever you choose I'm fine
You drive, I'll ride
You drive, I'll ride
The road that I was on before
It was going nowhere
Now I'll kick back, enjoy the ride
The wind through my hair
The sun is hot, the air is clear.
I was lost on my own
You came and picked me up out here
Now you're driving me home
The rest of my life is not left for me to write,
I don't know it all
I just made up myself and that was wrong
It's good that I don't drive
It never gets me too far
I like it on this side
This isn't even my car
You're driving with perfection
Now I've learned my lesson.

Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
