School year favorites 2018

I have been meaning to post these for a few days, then I looked at last year and saw that I posted this same post one year ago on August 30, so I didn't feel so bad. The start of the school year is so busy for us, with meetings, testing, and adjusting to the new routine. Caleb has FOUR outside classes this year, so we are driving him a lot, and encouraging him to get his permit soon. So far his classes are going really well, and Mallory is taking band at the nearby middle school, but she can walk there. I walked her for several days in the first week. She has even ridden her bike there, which is a nice change from walking. Too bad Caleb can't ride his bike to his high school!

I love asking my kids these questions and seeing how their answers change from year to year, and what stays the same. Bethany still likes the same food! :-D HERE is where you can find last year's post.  I had a hard time making these because the colors don't always show up well on the brick wall. I hope you can still see them. I used my app called "Over" again to get the print on the photos.

Our 4th grader
Enjoy!
Our 7th grader

Our 10th grader/ Sophomore!

I sure love these kids and I'm thankful for the privilege of homeschooling them!

This is our home academy verse:

Ephesians 6:17
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Deuteronomy 11:18-20
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates...

This is a promise that I hope for my children...
Proverbs 22:6
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

God is good... all the time!

There is an old song, and the lyrics say, "God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good." I remember liking that song, even though I haven't heard it in a while. (by Paul Overstreet) But there is so much truth in it. I think of the "even whens..." often too.

God is good, even when... the test results come back with cancer.

God is good, even when... I've had a hard day.

God is good,  even when... my kids misbehave or don't listen to me.

God is good, even when... my prayers aren't answered the way I wish.

God is good, even when... I'm lonely, tired, bored, or sad...

God is good, even when... everything things seems dark and hopeless...

God is good, even when... I have a mountain of things to do... (He gave give you what you need to get it all done!)

God is good, even when... my husband won't pay attention to me.

God is good, even when... a family member dies suddenly.

God is good, even when... my kids do poorly in school.

God is good, even when... my kids don't follow Christ... (but you can pray for them!)

God is good, even when... I don't understand His ways.

God is good, even when... my husband loses his job. (Another reason to pray!)

God is good, even when... I'm estranged from a family member. (Keep praying!)

God is good, even when... I don't have money to buy groceries, or shoes, or ___________.

God is good, even when... I don't get to take an expensive trip.

God is good, even when... I don't have a husband, spouse or friend. (He is ALWAYS with you!)

God is good, even when... my favorite dish gets broken.

God is good, even when... my kids don't have any friends.

God is good, even when... I need to move away from all of my family.

God is good, even when... _______________________ (you fill in the blank!)

What a good & great God we serve!

Psalm 145:3-9
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They tell of the power of your awesome works—
and I will proclaim your great deeds.
They celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The Lord is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Luke 18:19
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
