I have bins in the garage to keep our extra homeschool books and supplies. I have a bookshelf in my homeschool room to keep books in. I have a zipper 3 ring binder to keep my coupons in. I have a zipper holder to keep Sharpie markers in. I have a bin in our schoolroom to keep the weeks' books in. I keep my children's school papers in 3-ring binders, one for each child.
God tells me in His word, that I am a keeper to Him too.
Jude 1:1 says" To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ..."
Isaiah 49:16 says, "See, I have engraved you on the palms on my hands..."
He is keeping us on His hand, where he can see us, be reminded of us continually, and keep us safe. What a great thought!
And He talks about HOW He will KEEP us...
"The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3
"The LORD bless you, and keep you;
The LORD lift up His countenance on you, The LORD make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
And give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26
"The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore." Psalm 121:7-8
"To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy..." Jude 24
I'm so thankful to God that He keeps me, despite my imperfections, and He keeps me walking in His grace every day! What a great God to keep us and bless us!
Here is a great Christian song that talks about this very thing- KEEPING your head up!
"Move" by Mercy Me...
I'm not about to give up
Because I heard you say
There's gonna be brighter days
There's gonna be brighter days
I wont stop, I'll keep my head up
No, I'm not here to stay
There's gonna be brighter days
There's gonna be brighter days
I just might bend but I won't break
As long as I can see your face
When life won't play along
And right keeps going wrong
And I can't seem to find my way
I know where I am found
So I won't let it drag me down
Oh, I'll keep dancing anyway
I'm gonna move, move
I'm gonna move, move
I'm gonna move (I'm gonna move)
I've got to hold 'er steady
Keep my head in the game
Everything is about to change
Everything is about to change
This hurt is getting heavy
But I'm not about to cave
Everything is about to change
There's gonna be brighter days
I just might bend but I won't break
As long as I can see your face
I'm gonna move
(No matter what may come)
(Gotta move to a different drum)
(No matter what life brings)
(Gotta move gotta move to a different beat)
(Gotta move gotta move to a different beat)
I just might bend but I won't break
As long as I can see your face
I'm gonna move
I'm gonna move
I'm gonna move, gonna move

I love the care and attention that is wrapped up in the word, "Kept". A great picture to hang on to!
ReplyDeleteAhhh....what a comfort it is to know that in the midst of all that I am keeping, God is keeping me as well. Even during those times when I'm not the best at keeping him by my side, I'm still kept. Thanks for the lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI'm a keeper, too! I used to get stressed about it until I read some advice that said as long as I know where things are when I want to find them, it's ok.

Thank you for making these points.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! I never really think of the word "keep" in that way. I am a tosser. I throw away everything, even stuff I should probably keep. It makes me wonder if I should be less hasty in throwing things out. I am very grateful that God is not a hasty tosser like me! It is very comforting to be reminded that He is keeping me!
ReplyDeleteThere is comfort in knowing that God keeps his promise...The LORD protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and then he saved me. Psalm 116:6
ReplyDeleteSo in turn, I also keep my faith in Him.
Thanks for this.

Love the way you wrote this post. I'm also a keeper! I don't like to throw things away, unless it is really necessary. As you mentioned, we never know when we will need it!
ReplyDeleteMy mom is also a keeper. She just gave my daughter one of my old toys from the time I was 4 years old and my daughter loves it!!!!!
