Spiders! {Kindergarten}

This past Friday, we talked about spiders in our homeschool kindergarten. It's not my favorite subject, but important to learn about... We read some great books: The Eensy Weensy Spider by Nadine Bernard Westcott, Diary of a Spider by Doreen Cronin, The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle, and The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani.
You can find this book on Amazon here.

We looked at spiders and spider webs online, and made these two crafts:

Fingerprint Spiders, made by placing black fingerprints on paper, and drawing 8 legs on each one. My daughters even drew a web on the picture!

Accordion spiders:
Take 8 strips of black construction paper for the legs, and fold them back and forth, accordion style. Draw a figure 8 on black construction paper, cut out for body, and attach legs with glue. I think it's kinda cute!

This past week for S week, we also talked about shadows, and different features, defining shadows, etc., It was a bummer that it was such a cloudy, snowy week here though-- made it hard to see our shadows! maybe next week...
