American Girl class: Rebecca Week 6

This week in our American Girl class, we talked about the sixth book in the Rebecca series, Changes for Rebecca. After we discussed the book, we made a Vine Picture holder, an idea which I got from The Jewish Holiday Craft Book by Kathy Ross.

For the craft, we traced and cut three leaves from green construction paper. We glued each leaf onto a clothespin. The clothespins were then clipped onto a piece of clothesline, which I had dyed light green with food coloring. The girls could then add their own pictures to the picture hanger and hang it in their room as a decoration.
For snack, we made our own lemonade, like Rebecca and Ana did in our book.

Here is the easy homemade lemonade recipe that we used:
4 fresh lemons, halved
1/2 gallon water
1 cup sugar

Squeeze lemons, getting most of the juice out. Mix with water and sugar. YUM!

The girls squeezed the lemon halves into their own cups, then we put the juice through a strainer into the water pitcher. They really liked doing this, even though it was messy!

The 2:00 class, tracing their leaves...
There was lots of singing since many of the girls have choir before my class...
I also printed an activity from homeschoolshare.com, in the American Girl lapbook templates. The girls cut out and wrote in the Family mini-book. We looked in the front of our Rebecca books at the family list, and the girls copied the names of family members into the mini-book. The hard part was getting the book pages stapled in order!

It was another fun class. I hope the girls enjoyed it as much as I did! Next week, we start KIT! We are all excited!

Genesis 1:11
Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.

Daniel 4:12
Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit abundant, and on it was food for all. Under it the wild animals found shelter, and the birds lived in its branches; from it every creature was fed.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
