Kindergarten- Pumpkins week

We had a fun week in homeschool kindergarten last week. We discussed pumpkins, fall and Halloween! We had fun making crafts-- a black cat, an owl and a bat. We discussed shapes on jack-o-lanterns, wrote pumpkin, scarecrow, candle and more. We discussed a pumpkin's life cycle, safety while trick-or-treating, and made a pumpkin pie from scratch! We also colored our Halloween Rhyme, which I got from working in Kindergarten as a student teacher years ago. It was lots of fun! You can find directions of how to make the three Halloween crafts on this blog here.

Bethany had fun making crafts. Here she is cutting the owl's big eyes. She did very well with all of the cutting and tracing! She even wore her owl shirt that day. : - D

Here is the small pie pumpkin after we cooked it and it cooled. We scooped it out and used it as pumpkin pie filling, adding the spices of course. It was a delicious pie! It was fun to make with Bethany's help.
Have you ever baked a pie pumpkin?

We talk about how Halloween can be a dark holiday, and Christians can be a light in the dark...

Genesis 1:4
God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

2 Samuel 22:29
You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

Psalm 56:13
For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
