American Girl class: Rebecca Week 4 (Time #2)

This week in class we discussed Rebecca and the Movies (book 4 in Rebecca series).  We will discuss Passover too. I read a book called The Four Questions by Ori Sherman and Lynne Sharon Schwartz to the girls. It answered questions about Passover. I also gave the girls a word search to do. A few of them thought it was hard, but lots of them finished it! You can find the Passover word search here.

For craft, we made a black framed name. I printed each of the girls' names onto white cardstock and cut each piece to 4' X 6" size. I gave each girl 1/4 of a piece of gold cardstock. We had star tracers and the girls traced the star onto the yellow cardstock, cut it out and glued the star onto the white cardstock. After the glue dried, we put it into the black frame. It will be fun to hang on a bedroom door or set on top of their dresser. It makes them seem like a movie star!

My daughter finished her craft... looks great!

 This silliness happened too...

Our snack this week was Charoset.   We make this during the Spring, and it was a little unusual to make Apple/raisin/ cinnamon mixture in the fall. But it was nice because we just picked the apples right off of our tree in the backyard! The snack recipe can be found here: http://thywordisalamptomyfeet.blogspot.com/2013/04/charoset-recipe.html

The girls really liked the snack. I was glad that I didn't include the nuts because one girl was allergic to them. It tasted great without the walnuts!

We only have two more weeks of Rebecca left before we begin Kit!

Exodus 12:27
then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.

Deuteronomy 16:2
Sacrifice as the Passover to the Lord your God an animal from your flock or herd at the place the Lord will choose as a dwelling for his Name.

Matthew 26:18
He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’”
