American Girl class: Kit week 2 (time #2)

For American Girl class this week, we discussed Kit Learns a Lesson (book 2 in Kit series) for class. We discussed Thanksgiving too, and what that may have looked like during the Depression era.

For our craft, I printed a cornucopia found here. I gave each of the girls one sheet of construction paper. They cut out the cornucopia, colored it brown, and glued it onto the construction paper. Then I gave the girls a variety of magazines to cut out food to glue onto the cornucopia. It was a challenge because there was so many other fun things that they wanted to cut out! We discussed what a cornucopia was and what was inside it.

For snack, we had Oatmeal with canned sliced peaches.  Most of the girls really liked the peaches, but not really the oatmeal. It was plain, they said.

We also worked on our geography notebooks again, and this time we colored pages for Ohio, since that is where Kit lived. The girls did a great job, as usual coloring in the flags and flowers! You can find the pages here and here.

It was another great class day, but I had extra time. I should have planned a game to play for a few minutes. I sure enjoy these girls!

I am looking forward to talking next week about Kit book three, and CHRISTMAS!

Psalm 69:30
I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 95:2
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Psalm 100:4

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
