Marching band highlights

My son decided to play bass drum in the marching band this year. He was very excited that he was chosen to be in the drum line after his audition last spring. He began attending band camp in the end of July, and practiced for several weeks every day. After school began, they had practice for 2 hours 4 afternoons a week, on the off days of school (Labor Day, holidays) and several Saturdays too. It was a big commitment, but my son enjoyed meeting new friends (some he knew from middle school band) and learning how to march and play!

Check out those bass drummers, that middle one is cute! ;-D
And our band was able to go to our state competition, so the rest of the pictures are from that...(in semifinals and finals) It was pretty exciting to get 5th place in the 4A school finals! We were not allowed to take video that day, so I took A LOT of pictures! (These are just some of the pictures!)

What a great first year in marching band!

2 Chronicles 5:12
All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets.

2 Chronicles 29:28
The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the musicians played and the trumpets sounded. All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed.

Psalm 81:2
Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre.
