I have not blogged for several weeks, I have been busy traveling and enjoying summer! I've got lots to share... I'll begin with our recent vacation to California! We had a wonderful time. My hubby got plane tickets for about $60 per person, and since our minivan is getting older, we decided that was the way to go! We left on the evening of Father's day. Our plane was delayed, but it didn't deter us! We were happy to be on our way. The first part of our trip was driving up to Yosemite. We had been to Yosemite for our honeymoon, and we've always wanted to take our kids there. It was beautiful!
Taken at the airport, Daddy with all four kids! We were sad to leave our boy home. He had to work! One of our stops on the drive to Yosemite was In-N-Out Burger, of course! We enjoyed their food 4 times during our 10 days (once was just fries and shakes).
After we got all settled into our Air BnB, we spent the night and got to Yosemite National park as soon as we could... which apparently wasn't early enough. We waited over an hour and a half in line just to get into the park! The new reservation system slowed things down a bit. We were glad when we finally got going!
This is from the Wawona tunnel view... a first great glimpse of the mountains of the park. Love it!
We had to take pictures here together, just like we did nearly 25 years ago!
Our oldest daughter at Tunnel View. She took lots of pictures to send to her boyfriend.
My hubby was so happy to get his feet into the Merced River!
Then we walked around the valley floor a little bit, and we saw this huge bench. I had our daughter lay down on it to show the size!
We hiked to Lower Yosemite Falls, which was an easy hike. It was great weather!
The girls enjoyed sitting on the rocks below us and putting their feet in water again. I loved seeing them together!
Our oldest and youngest found a seat together, on the way to or from the falls.
This tree was huge! There were four of us (you can't see the younger girls) around the trunk of the tree. The girls were amazed at the huge trees. They were really tall!
Our hikers after lunch at Yosemite Grill. We enjoyed the gift shop too!
This is El Capitan from the Valley floor. We had watched a movie the night before called "Free Solo" about guys that climbed El Capitan and other mountains. One man made it to the top with no ropes, all alone! It was impressive!
On our way out of the park, we drove up to Glacier Point. It was a bit of a drive, but the views were amazing!
The next day, we left earlier and it was much quicker to get into the park. We headed straight for our hike to Vernal Falls. It got warm quickly and we wanted to hike as early as we could. It was a moderately strenous hike, mostly uphill. The girls did GREAT, and we encouraged each other. As we neared the top of the 600 granite stairs, other hikers encouraged us too. It was so nice to put our feet in the Emerald Pool at the top!
We had great views of the falls during the hike!
We are getting closer!
The top of the falls...we made it!
We ate a snacky lunch while we relaxed, enjoyed the cooler temperature and put our feet in the water. It felt so good!
The trail back down, it took much less time to go down.
We found a different spot by the Merced River, and hung out for a little while. That spot had a great view of Bridalveil falls!
Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
and the mountains quake with their surging.
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber...
