Spring Wreath

Some of you may remember this post about my decorations changing from Winter to Spring that I showed last year. I pulled out my Spring wreath to hang this year, and a few of the flowers had fallen off, making it look more sad, and well, just lame. I decided to re-create it, so I looked at my new favorite place for inspiration... Pinterest!

There were pages and pages of Spring Wreaths, some of which were way too much work for me. After sorting through tons of pictures on Pinterest, I found this one (below) that I really liked. I wanted to use the purple grosgrain ribbon that I already had...
You can find her directions page for this wreath here.

Of course, this gal used felt, and I wanted to use ribbon. But I followed her overall directions for making the flowers and hot-gluing buttons on them. She also used brighter colors that I wanted to use. I think Spring is pastels, call me old-fashioned, but I do!
I found some brightly colored buttons at Wal-mart, and used them for the centers. They really pop out and add a neat touch!

I made most of the flowers with seven petals, but a few I made like the one on the table below. I just folded the ribbon in to the center four times, gluing it as I went. Then I glued a button in the middle. I liked the variety of the different petal type and the different lengths of the petals too.

Here is my work surface...

I love how it turned out...
My wreath was smaller and lighter (I wish it was darker, it would jump out more, this one blends into the door!) so I added 7 flowers instead of 9.
