Thankful Thursday #5

Thankful Thursday #5

We had a great week this past week of VBS, but had other challenges testing our faith a bit. Many of my Facebook friends know that my hubby's grandfather passed away on Sunday of last week. Then on Monday we were in a minor car accident on the way home from VBS. We were so thankful that it was not worse-- no one was injured, we were not at fault and our van is in the process of getting fixed. Then on Wednesday afternoon our youngest daughter Bethany was sick. They say bad things come in threes-- so that was our three doozies last week!

It was a good test of our VBS motto: "Facing Fear, Trusting God." We know God has all things in control and we need to trust Him. So while we didn't understand why He wanted our van all dented up,  it has made us more cautious and attentive while driving. All we own is God's anyway... we just try to use it for HIS glory!

#465- Thankful for Joshua's grandfather Poppy's life and the chance to see him (and Gram) last July. We will miss him! He was quite lavish in his affections for us, utilizing lengthy verbiage and detailed expressions of love.
#469- Minor car accident last Monday on the way home from VBS- all ok, just shaken up! Friends helped, others prayed!
#477- Bethany was sick in the afternoon/ evening with fever, vomiting. Poor girl! She felt better Thursday, through we missed VBS. We had fun relaxing, watching cartoons & painting our toenails!

#476- (Ugly- beautiful gift) We brought our van to the Honda dealer and picked up a new GMC rental SUV for a few weeks- nice ride!

What are you thankful for this week? I am looking forward to seeing my hubby today as he flies back from his grandfather's funeral, where he visited family. Then we will go to a big homeschool conference for 3 days together! Hope we learn lots about high school homeschooling and get inspired for the next year(s)!

I thought these verses applied well...

2 Corinthians 1:11

as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

2 Corinthians 2:14

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
