We had another cool week in homeschool kindergarten last week, as we talked about snow! We also discussed winter, winter animals, snowmen, snow forts, how snow forms, what we wear in the snow, and more! Part of the week, we went to our friends' cabin in the mountains. It was great to be there, since it snowed, and we were able to go sledding in the hills!
On Sunday night, my kindergartener was bored, so she asked to "do school". I gave her some writing to do, and pulled out some books to look at-- here she is in her pajamas! : - D
The gorgeous view from the cabin's windows!
At the sledding hill, hiking up to sled a shorter part with Daddy...
She sledded with Daddy on the tube...
Making snow angels...
and a snowman!
We were cozy and warm in our snow gear, and had lots of fun working together to make Olaf-ina? Frost-ina? :- D
At home again, matching buttons to the # of buttons on the snowman cards...
Sequencing cards (found online) to go with the book, The Snowy Day.
We made a paper plate snowman too!
Playing with "snow dough" (see recipe below)
We also made "Snow dough", a recipe that I found online several years ago. Here is the recipe:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 Tbsp oil
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tartar (Alum works too)
2-3 tsp dry white tempera paint (Optional- I omitted this)
glitter
Mix everything in a pan (except glitter). Cook over low heat stirring constantly until the dough thickens and pulls away from the pan. Remove from pan, allow to cool. Knead until smooth. Store in plastic container.
It was another cool week, and I love being able to "cabin-school" and "van-school" when we need to! It was so relaxing!
This was our verse of the week...
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.
Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Matthew 28:3
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
Revelation 1:14
The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
