Fall CD Banner

I have some old CD's that I've gotten in the mail. I saved them because I knew I could use them for a craft sometime. I've heard you can make pins with broken CD parts, but I've never tried them. I was looking around on one of my favorite stamping websites this past weekend, and tried to find a fall banner that I could make for my home. I have several banners, or garlands that I like to change with the seasons on my fireplace. I have one that says LOVE, that I use in months when I don't have a garland that is seasonal. Last year, I made a thanksgiving garland, and this past winter I made a Valentine's Day garland. You may have seen this post about my July 4th garland. I have a garland for Thanksgiving, but no real garland just for fall. I found a cute one that I decided to make, using CD's!

Here I traced the CD's onto designer scrapbook paper, and traced letters from chipboard onto brown card-stock.
I put the fun ribbons that I had in my stock into the center of the CD before I put the paper onto it. I've found that "Sticky Strip" or thin, very sticky double-sided tape works best for garlands.
I took my Big Shot and punched out a pumpkin to put next to the F in FALL. I used my stamp pads to color my chipboard leaves that I had. I used my Gold/Silver painty pen (gold side only) to outline the L and add some lines to the leaves. I also stamped the word "happy" onto the pumpkin, so it actually says "happy FALL"! I used the same four colors throughout the garland, and it ties it all together nicely!

So I put it all on one long ribbon, tied the ends and hung it up! I like it a lot!

I thought the brown was too dark on the L, so I added a piece of punched cardstock to the side of the L.
What a great way to get ready for fall! I am looking forward to getting out my fall wreath for my front door, and my candles again! Fall is not my favorite season, but homey decorations make it a little more fun! What do you do for fall? Do you change holiday decorations too?
